Clapton CFC vs Comets preview: Second last home league game for women’s first team
The Stray Dog was the name chosen by Clapton CFC members for the intermediate pitch at Wadham Lodge, Kitchener Road, Walthamstow, E17 4JP.
Both the Clapton CFC men’s and women’s first teams are playing on this pitch ahead of the return of football to the Old Spotted Dog Ground in Forest Gate.
The record attendance for the Stray Dog is 1266 to see Clapton CFC men’s first team win the Middlesex County Football League Premier Division title in May 2019.
The Stray Dog is the grass pitch on the left as you enter the Wadham Lodge car park. There is covered and uncovered standing.
Wadham Lodge is about 20 minutes walk from Walthamstow Central station. Turn onto Hoe Street and follow the road all the way along (past the junction with The Bell pub) until Chingford Lane. Continue past Sir George Monoux 6th Form College and take the first right onto Brookscroft Road then left onto Kitchener Road.You can catch a bus along that route too. The 357, 34, 97, 215 will all take you to the top of Brookscroft Road from Walthamstow Central. It will take about 12 minutes.
There’s also plenty of car parking space available at the ground.
Whyteleafe Development have on Friday forfeited and withdrawn from the competition, meaning the game is postponed.
