Like most clubs, we have seen the gradual shutdown of more and more of Clapton CFC’s operations over the course of March 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Two of the three games the Men’s and Women’s First Teams were able to play last month were behind closed doors and we were forced to suspend our online store because of concerns for the health of members who volunteer to pack and send out merchandise.
On 25 March, the FA announced that the seasons for both Clapton CFC men’s and women’s first teams are over.
Nevertheless, the club spent a total of £6,212.99 in March 2020, with the largest items of expenditure (£1,482.33) covering postage costs for sending out merchandise in February and training pitch hire (£1,330.76) for the Women’s First Team up until early March, when training was suspended.
Our income in March was £7,858.37. The largest proportion of this was £5,586.15 from merchandise sales and £918.37 from match day donations.
With neither main source of income likely to return for the foreseeable future, the club is fortunate to have – unlike many others – very healthy reserves.
The fundraising income of £484 listed below is donations collected by defender Liam Smyth after running last year’s London Marathon.
A REMINDER: many of Clapton CFC’s individual members are struggling financially right now.
If you can, please make a donation to Clapton Against Corona, our hardship fund set up to support our community through this difficult period. Find out how here.
