No pride in exclusion – trans people belong here

The Supreme Court ruling—defining “woman” in the Equality Act to mean “biological woman”— is not about clarity or fairness. It’s a political act of exclusion, a direct attack on trans+ people’s rights, safety, and dignity.

Let’s be clear: Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Non-binary people are valid. That’s not up for debate in our club or our community.

This ruling gives legal cover to discrimination. It reinforces exclusion. It legitimises hate. It won’t make anyone safer. What it will do is push trans+ people further to the margins, putting them at increased risk of violence, homelessness, and denial of care.

At Clapton CFC, we say no. We will not bow to the demands of transphobes. We will not erase anyone from our club, our stands, or our sport.

Football is for everyone. Our community is proudly diverse—and we will keep it that way.

While courts and governments use fear to divide us, we choose solidarity. We choose justice. We choose radical happiness and collective joy.

To every trans+ person reading this: we see you, we support you, and we will always fight for you. You belong here.

No pride in exclusion. Against Modern Football.
