Lewisham Borough vs Clapton CFC preview: Final away day for Men’s First Team

Lewisham Borough vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Saturday, April 19 2025 with a 3pm kick off at the Alex Yee Ladywell Arena, Silvermere Road, Catford, SE6 4QX

It’s the final away day of the 2024/25 season for any of our teams – not including the neutral venues for our two cup finals, of course.

It’s a good one to end with, as Lewisham are a progressive club, for instance offering very affordable season tickets. For their visit to the Old Spotted Dog Ground on a rainy autumn night, their supporters brought free fruit for all. For this game, Boro have arranged a food bank collection for the Lewisham Foodbank. Please do bring along any of the items in this list, if you can:

The Clapton CFC coaching staff rated our odds of reaching the SCEFL Division One play-offs at only 5% so a win might keep that slim chance alive. However, Lewisham are ending the season in fine form.

About the opposition

The club was established in 2003 as a merger of three teams – Elms, Moonshot and Ten Em Bee. Among the latter’s former players was Joe Gomez of Liverpool. The Boro won the Kent County League Division One West in their first season and the Premier Division at the second attempt. They have played at this level since 2011. Last season they lost in the play-offs after an epic 13-12 shoot-out but won the SCEFL Division One Cup, which we’re in the final for this season. Their full name is Lewisham Borough Community Football Club so they are one of the few other teams with a CFC suffix.

Form guide

Lewisham are finishing the season strongly, and if the season was a month longer could have sneaked into the play-offs. They have four clean sheets in a row, three wins and a draw.

Previous meetings

In the home game in September we won it 2-1 with a late comeback. Boro scored in the first half but Cameron Gordon turned around the game with goals on 76 and 90+1 minutes.

Players to watch

Long-serving Adekunle Adeyinka is their top scorer, including a superb strike against us earlier in the season at the OSD.
