Clapton CFC Men’s Over 35s join forces with Clapton Cageys for game vs Glasgow Piraten

This Saturday, Clapton CFC Men’s Over 35s join forces with Clapton Cageys to host Glasgow Piraten FC in what promises to be an engaging and competitive fixture of two mixed football teams at Douglas Eyre Centre in Walthamstow.

The team will be reinforced by Clapton Cageys players plus Hannah Wise, the very much-admired youth coach at Clapton CFC is expected to make her first appearance for the club.

The Over 35s will be looking to build on their strong performance from last weekend, where they played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Madrid-based Club Deportivo Parque Verde. That match saw the squad put in a resilient display, and they’ll be hoping to take that momentum into this fixture against another international opponent.

Glasgow Piraten FC is a mixed-gender 11-a-side team formed in 2019 to represent St. Pauli in the IFA Supporters League. The squad is made up of former members of United Glasgow FC, Republica Internationale, and the Glasgow St. Pauli supporters club. They compete in both the IFA setup and an LGBT+ inclusive league while also playing matches against antifascist teams from England, Germany, and Italy. Off the pitch, they are committed to raising awareness and funds for causes such as trans rights, asylum seeker support, and Palestine solidarity.

Both teams share a passion for football with a purpose, making this more than just a game—it’s a meeting of like-minded clubs dedicated to inclusivity, antifascism, and solidarity. With Clapton looking to build on their positive result from last weekend and Glasgow Piraten FC bringing their dynamic style of play, this should be a compelling and competitive encounter.

Expect a morning of football played in the right spirit, with plenty of quality on display both on and off the pitch.
