Head Coach Jason Murray departs Clapton CFC Women’s First Team role

Clapton CFC Women’s First Team Head Coach Jason Murray has departed the club along with his backroom team, First Team Coach Kevin Watts and Goalkeeper Coach Sunny Hunjan.

Jay joined us in January when the team were in a bit of a slump in the bottom half of the table. His tenure started with a 6-0 away victory and six wins in his first eight league games fired us up the table to an impressive fourth-placed finish.

This pre-season was a huge success, with eye-catching wins against higher division opponents, including lifting the FSA Women’s Shield with a win at Enfield Town. Jay added some quality new signings to the squad with the formidable aim of challenging mighty Brentford, Bromley and others for the one promotion spot in the London & South East League Division One North. His time with the club ended in grand style, playing at Brentford’s Gtech Stadium in front of 3585 spectators.

Jay, Sunny and Kevin depart with the best wishes of everyone connected with the club and we wish them good luck juggling their other commitments. Jay is Head of Coaching at University of East London and also runs a coaching academy. In the summer, Jay and Sunny also went to Mexico to manage the Medallo City team in the Kings League World Cup.

Long-standing assistant manager Brian Bramble has agreed to take charge of the team while the Women’s First Team committee decide on the next steps.
