Clapton Cageys FC win the Super5 League Champions League Cup

You might have already seen the celebrations online, but the Clapton Cageys 5-a-side team have won some silverware.

Having finished runners-up in the Division 5 Super5 League, they followed it up with success in the post-season mini tournament. They battled to take home the Champions League Cup in the final, winning 1-0. They played a brutal and beautiful match against High Fives FC, with the winning goal from ‘Mad-Dog’ Madeleine. The Cageys will enter their third Super5 League season from June, staying in Division 5 but up against some strong new opposition, while also taking part in some friendlies and tournaments for the next few weeks.

If you’re watching the Hackney Half Marathon 2024 this Sunday, keep your eye out for Cageys Maddy and Lucy (the one with the scarf and the one with the trophy above) and give them a big CCFC cheer as they run past – both are running a half for the first time ever this year!
