It’s a daunting trip for the men’s first team this Saturday against the league leaders with a 100% record averaging more than three goals a game.
Indian Gymkhana have won all their six games so far this season – five in the league and another in the league cup – helped by fielding a very consistent line-up, week in week out.
They’ve been masters at closing out tight games, winning five of the six games by a single goal.
CCFC meanwhile are also unbeaten in the league, but have lost two cup games in a row, which hopefully won’t derail the momentum in the pursuit of promotion.
Our record against Indian Gymkhana wasn’t traditionally good, losing our first three games against them. The Gymkhana Jinx was finally broken in March, with a win on the Stray Dog.
Indian Gymkhana is a combined cricket, football and hockey club. Established in 1916, it is the largest and longest-standing multiracial sports club in the UK.
The football section was created in the 1980s and now has men’s, women’s, boys’ and girls’ teams.
It was the first Asian football club in Britain to set up a girls’ team and they are determined to see girls and boys get the same opportunities.
The football section also runs a health and fitness programme, open to anyone that’s interested in keeping fit as their primary goal.
