We’re delighted to host old friends PFC Victoria London again on Saturday after their promotion back to the MCFL Premier Division.
Last week’s 1-1 draw on the Wadham Lodge 3G against another promoted side in Shepherd’s Bush kept us top of the early table – though of course you’re not supposed to look yet.
No one likes watching games through the bars of a cage, so the loyalty of everyone who turned up last Saturday and those coming this Saturday is amazing.
An early heads up that next Saturday (September 3) vs Larkspur Rovers is set to be probably our final game at the Wadham Lodge Stadium so that’s the one to invite your friends and family.
We are currently nomadic ahead of the move to the Old Spotted Dog and it’s unlikely the stadium pitch will be free again for us. So let’s make that special!
The move to the OSDG can’t come soon enough, but first up, PFC Victoria will be formidable opponents. Let’s get the three points and set up a big season.
About PFC Victoria London
They were formed in 2016 as a club for the Polish community in London and had a phenomenal rise.
They started in Division 2 of the Middlesex County Football League in 2016/7 and gained back-to-back promotions straight to the Premier Division.
They came agonisingly close to gaining a triple promotion, but ended up second in the Premier just behind St Panteleimon.
After struggling in the two seasons shortened by Covid, they unfortunately dropped down to MCFL Division One South & West.
However, they bounced back at the first attempt last season, gaining promotion after finishing third behind Shepherd’s Bush.
Watch out in particular for attacker Piotr Murawski, who scored a phenomenal 23 goals in just 12 games last season.His record at this level is around 1 per game, too.
The club’s stated aims are to reach the National League and to have a ground of their own. The second aim is looking more likely after being given a parcel of land by the London Borough of Hounslow last year.

Clapton CFC vs PFC Victoria London takes place on Saturday 27th August 2022 at 3pm, on the 3G pitch at Wadham Lodge Sports Ground, Kitchener Road, Walthamstow.
Advanced tickets are not needed, you can just turn up. It is free to watch as usual but with donations welcome, with a suggested £3 for waged adults..
We will have a mini programme available pick one up for free, donations welcome.
The Matchday Centres bar will be open. There will be no catering.
Travel
A replacement bus service is in operation on the Overground line to Walthamstow Queens Road, coming from either Hackney Downs direction or Chingford. But the Liverpool Street to Walthamstow Central service is running, so too the Victoria line.
Wadham Lodge is about 20 minutes’ walk from Walthamstow Central station. Turn onto Hoe Street and follow the road all the way along (past the junction with The Bell pub) until Chingford Lane. Continue past Sir George Monoux 6th Form College and take the first right onto Brookscroft Road then left onto Kitchener Road.
You can catch a bus along that route too. The 357, 34, 97, 215 will all take you to the top of Brookscroft Road from Walthamstow Central. It will take about 12 minutes. You can also alight at Blackhorse Road Station. The 123 from the stop opposite the station on Forest Road will take you as far as the crossroads with Hoe Street/Chingford Road – alight at the stop for Bromley Road.
You can bring your bike and leave it around the pitch if there are no spaces left in the bike rack near the Wadham Lodge clubhouse.
If you’re driving, please park on a street nearby, as the car park will be busy.
