Leatherhead vs Clapton CFC preview: Long away day for Clapton CFC Women’s First Team

Leatherhead vs Clapton CFC takes place on Sunday, March 23 2025 with a 1pm kick off at Fetcham Grove, Guildford Road, Fetcham, Leatherhead, KT22 9AS

There are just five games left of the league season for the Clapton CFC Women’s First Team now. Next up are Leatherhead, who have had a very impressive season and sit four points ahead of us.

This will be our first visit to Fetcham Grove after a few prior postponements. Note the earlier than usual 1pm kick off.

About the opposition

The successful Mole Valley Girls U18s team became Leatherhead Women in 2020 and it’s been a rollercoaster since. The Tanners were promoted in their first season, relegated in their second, and promoted again last season, their third. In fact they also won the league cup and reached the Capital Cup final too.

Form guide

It’s been a fantastic first season back at this level, averaging more than two points a game which would have been enough for another promotion push were it not for the juggernauts that are Brentford and Bromley. They’ve had some thumping wins recently, including 13-0 against Richmond Park and 8-0 against Ashmount Leigh.

Previous meetings

Leatherhead won 3-1 at the Old Spotted Dog Ground in September and were full value for the win. Two seasons ago, Leatherhead won the first ever competitive CCFC game at the Old Spotted Dog Ground 2-1. We later gained some revenge, winning 4-1 away in a game moved to a 3G pitch at Surrey Sports Park in Guildford due to the weather.

Players to watch

They have an astonishing six players who have scored 10 or more, including Cassie Brown who bagged twice against us in their 3-1 win at the OSD this season. The other scorer that day, Megan Button, is fourth top scorer in the division with 28 goals.
