Faversham Strike Force vs Clapton CFC preview: Men’s First Team away to high-flyers

Faversham Strike Force vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Saturday, February 22 2025 with a 3pm kick off at Salters Lane, Faversham, Kent ME13 8ND

It’s now just 10 games to go in the SCEFL Division One season for Clapton CFC Men’s First Team, 4 away, 6 at home.

Geoff Ocran’s team have hauled themselves back into play-off contention with three home wins in a row, moving up into the final play-off place in fifth. However, they’ve also suffered three straight defeats away against teams, like Faversham, near the top of the table. So it’s going to be a tough task.

Admission is cheaper if you buy tickets in advance – see below.

About the opposition

A registered charity, Faversham Strike Force have enjoyed a relatively short but storied rise since founding as a youth team in 1999, so this is their 25th anniversary season. They’re now represented by over 50 teams, including a women and girls pathway from reception through to seniors, as well as disability and walking football. Charlton Athletic striker Matt Gooden started out in the youth set-up and his son is playing there now too. Strike Force only launched a senior men’s team in 2012, reaching Step 6 by 2021/22, where they have levelled out with two respectable lower/mid-table finishes, punctuated by placing fourth two seasons ago. Joining the Southern Counties meant leaving their original home, seven miles away in Sittingbourne, to groundshare with fellow SCEFL Division 1 side Rochester United 26 miles away. Two years ago, however, they were able to return home with a groundshare at Faversham Town’s Salter Lane.

Form guide

Having finished in 11th place last season, Strike Force have improved hugely and have never dropped below sixth all season, currently being two spots above us in third. They have drawn their last five home games in a row, while their away record is the best in the division.

Previous meetings

On the second game of the season, we lost 3-0 at home to Strike Force.
