After six and a half years without a price rise, unfortunately we’re going to have to increase the cost of Clapton CFC replica shirts for the first time.
We’ve charged £25 (plus taxes, postage and packaging, where applicable) since the club was formed and our first shirt was sold in August 2018.
We have not changed our away shirt at all since, while our one and only change of home kit was imposed on us in 2022.
Over these seven seasons, our costs have increased by 25% – mostly due to increased production costs but also the impact of post-Brexit customs rules pushing up shipping costs from the Rage Sport factory in Italy to us in East London.
Up until now we have absorbed all the additional costs ourselves, as we wanted to have an affordable as well as ethically produced shirt.
Now reluctantly, the price of a shirt will rise to £30. Buyers in Britain of adult sized shirts will pay VAT on top, which makes £36, smaller shirts will be £30 as they exempt from VAT. We are working on plans to reduce the taxes charged on sales within the EU – more to follow.
These prices still compare extremely favourably to most replica shirts, whether professional or non-league teams. That’s particularly the case given that Rage Sport are an ethical company who make all their kits in Italy using responsibly sourced material and make sure all workers in the supply chain are paid fairly.
Having reviewed the costs of all our merch items, such as scarves and hats, we also need to add a pound or two on some other prices.
The price rises will come into effect at the start of February, which means you still have a chance to buy at the current levels before then.
You can buy online until the end of January or in person at the following games…
- January 25 Men’s First Team vs Halls Athletic
- January 26 Women’s First Team vs Richmond & Kew
- February 2 Women’s First Team vs Ashford United
…at current prices, then the price rises will kick in.
Many thanks to Rage Sport for bringing our fan-designed, fan-chosen kits to life and producing over 20,000 of them so far, and to all who have bought the shirt. The kits were of course designed and chosen by members.
