Unfortunately, the first league game at the Old Spotted Dog Ground of 2025 has fallen foul of the weather.

Clapton CFC Men’s First Team were due to play FC Elmstead in the SCEFL Division One on Saturday (January 11).

However, the Grounds Committee checked the pitch several times during Friday daytime, and found that it was frozen.

With subzero temperatures overnight, the chances of the pitch thawing out by 3pm Saturday was extremely remote.

Due to league rules, the postponement needed to be made by a referee on Saturday. The ref duly called it off after a 10am video call.

Apologies to all for the postponement. We’re back at the Old Spotted Dog Ground next Sunday (January 19) for the CCFC Women’s First Team vs Dulwich Hamlet Res.
