Soul Tower Hamlets vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Saturday, December 28 2024 with a 3pm kick off at the Mile End Stadium
The final action of 2024 for Clapton CFC sees the Men’s First Team visit Soul Tower Hamlets. It’s a derby between the only two East London teams in the Southern Counties East Football League after we were both shunted sideways in an FA restructure.
STH have been one of the dark horses in the division, sitting above us in the table and in the play-off places, and with games in hand too.
All three previous meetings between the two teams have ended in draws.
Opposition
Soul Tower Hamlets were known just as Tower Hamlets until this summer, when they merged with Soul FC from the Essex Alliance League. The club formed as Bethnal Green United FC in 2000 in the Middlesex County Football League and were promoted into the Essex Senior League in 2008. They’ve won the Gordon Brasted and ESL Cup trophies and reached the last 16 of the FA Vase. Meanwhile Soul – which stands for Soul Organisation For Unity and Leisure – is a community organisation formed in 2003.
Form guide
STH are in fifth place and have lost the fewest games in the division – just two – against Croydon and Sheppey Sports.
Previous meetings
The teams met twice last season in the Eastern Counties League, with an entertaining 2-2 draw at Mile End Stadium followed by a 1-1 draw at the Old Spotted Dog Ground. Earlier this season, it was another 1-1 draw in a Tuesday night under the lights at the Old Spotted Dog Ground.
Players to watch
Former Chelmsford City and Wingate & Finchley striker Tim Monsheju has scored 17 goals in all competitions so far, putting him second in the division’s top scorer list, just ahead of our own Fred Taylor. STH’s young full-back Ricardo Joseph is also registered with our Development Team.
