Tooting Bec vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Saturday, November 30 2024 with a 3pm kick off at Chipstead FC, High Road, Chipstead, CR5 3SF.
It’s the first away day in about a month for the Clapton CFC Men’s First Team and it’s a long trip down to Chipstead in Surrey to take on Tooting Bec.
Geoff Ocran’s team have had a decent November to move up the table although last week’s home defeat to Sheppey Sports was a disappointment. A win is required to keep in touch with the play-off pack, but the same can be said for our hosts too.
The opposition
Tooting Bec FC was established in 2004 and joined the Surrey South Eastern Combination. Five promotions later they joined the Combined Counties League, then in 2021 season the club were laterally transferred to the SCEFL. In the three seasons since, they’ve made the play-offs twice. They now have 6 men’s and 2 women’s teams.
Previous meetings
None. However, our Women’s First Team faced theirs last season in the Capital Cup, with the Bec winning 3-0 at the Old Spotted Dog Ground.
Form guide
It’s been a up and down season so far for Tooting Bec, going the first seven games without a win then winning three in a row when they broke their duck. Last weekend they won 1-0 away at league leaders Croydon so they are most definitely on an upward curve now.
Players to watch
Nile Waite – who has bags of experience in this division with AFC Whyteleafe, Lewisham Borough, FC Elmstead and Sporting Club Thamesmead is in fine form this season with six goals in ten games.
Admission
It’s £6 in, £3 concessions, and free for U12s. The bar opens at 12.30pm (food on sale until it’s all gone) and the turnstiles at 2.15pm. There will be a few printed programmes on sale too.
Transport and directions
It’s a 32 minute walk from Chipstead station. However, the walk is apparently up a very steep and narrow hill with no pavements. So the suggestion is to travel to Coulsdon South and to book a taxi from the cab office there. You can also catch a train to Merstham and catch a bus from there.
There is parking for 200 cars around 200 yards from the ground.
