Clapton CFC Reserves – the season so far

The recently formed Clapton Community FC WNB Reserves team is making itself at home in the Greater London Women’s Football League. Head Coach Amii Griffith gives an update on the season so far…

After racking up 8-0, 9-0 and 10-0 wins in our first three games, we faced our first big challenge against the well-established Alexandra Park. They came from behind twice to inflict our first loss of the season.

It was back-to-back top of the table clashes as we then played London Galaxy next who are equally prolific in front of goal. We pulled out a 3-1 win to get back to winning ways.

With Edgware & Kingsbury beating Alexandra Park, we were back top of the table, but we faced them next. Not to let that top spot slip again we won 11-3, though 3 goals either side of half-time rocked the team before we steadied the ship for another three points.

It is still early days and many hard opponents to face, but the work rate we’re seeing from Reserves in training and on the pitch has been a pleasure to watch. In a short few months, we have seen players grow in confidence, in skill and technical ability and each week the team goes from strength to strength. I can’t wait to see how far we can go because this is only the beginning.
