Meridian VP vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Tuesday, October 22 2024 with a 7.45pm kick off at Meridian Sports & Social Club, Charlton Park Lane, SE7 8QS
It’s back to Meridian Sports & Social Club for the second time in 10 days for the Men’s First Team after a disappointing defeat away at Bridon Ropes. This time we’re facing the venue’s other tenants, Meridian Valley Park, looking for a return to winning ways in the SCEFL Division One.
This is the final midweek game of the season for either first team – home or away – unless there’s a very long list of postponements.
The opposition
Meridian Sports & Social FC started as a five-a-side team including current manager and chairman Dwinder Tamna and three of his brothers. It joined the Dartford & District League in 1995, then the Kent County League in 2003. They have been at this level since 2011 and two years later merged with Valley Park FC, becoming Meridian VP.
Form guide
Although bottom of the table so far, they’ve been really unlucky, mainly losing by the odd goal, including in the 95th minute in their last home game. They did notch a win in the FA Vase against Lewisham Borough.
Players to watch
Top scorer Rami Halloufi has three goals this season, while the fantastically named Robinhood Mensa Sowah is formerly of our old divisional rivals Park View and Barkingside.
Admission
It’s £8 admission or £6 concessions (programme included) and U12s free. Cash and card accepted.
Drinks and food are available from the bar before the game, at half-time, and afterwards, but alcoholic drinks are not allowed pitch side.
Directions
The nearest stations are Charlton (25 minutes’ walk), Woolwich Arsenal (30 mins) and Woolwich (33 mins).
