Halls Athletic vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Saturday, August 24 2024 with a 3pm kick off at Erith Sports Centre Community Stadium, Avenue Road, Erith, DA8 3AT
It’s the fourth league match of the new season for the Clapton CFC Men’s First Team and we’re on the road/train/ferry again down to South East London.
It’s two wins out of the three for CCFC so far, both by a single goal, including last week’s win at Sporting Club Thamesmead. That one came despite a late kick off due to several players being hit by long traffic delays crossing the river, hopefully not a regular occurrence in our new division. Halls are newly promoted and are also off the mark with a win so it should be another stiff test.
CCFC will be back in action three days later against East London rivals Soul Tower Hamlets.
The opposition
Our hosts were formed in 1919 and are playing at their highest level to date, following two promotions in the last three seasons. They’re run by a charity and are looking to move back to their own ground in Dartford, as part of a proposed Atlas Park development.
Form guide
Halls won their first game of the season and lost their second (just as CCFC did). A great 4-3 win at Welling Town was followed by a 2-0 defeat to Greenways.
Previous meetings
None.
Players to watch
Last season’s top scorer Ryan Golding has moved to divisional rivals Welling Town, but James Bayford and Aaron Hall who also notched double figures last season are both off the mark this season.
Admission
We’ve not received the match details yet but tickets were £6 at the last game.
Food and drink
We believe there’s a bar, awaiting confirmation.
Directions
Do not enter the ground via the leisure centre reception – there is a separate football ground entrance in the car park, with a supporters’ entrance sign next to the turnstile.
The nearest railway station is Erith, which is a 12-minute walk to the ground.
If you’re driving, from Erith Roundabout, take Victoria Road, continue to T-junction, turn left onto Avenue Road, and then first right into Leisure Centre.
The Blackwall Tunnel is NOT scheduled to be closed this weekend.
