Clapton CFC Women’s First Team have been honoured with an invitation to defend the FSA Women’s Trophy against higher division Enfield Town.

It’s taking place at an unusual time and day, taking place on Saturday, July 27 at 4pm. With the Clapton Men’s First Team playing a friendly at the Old Spotted Dog Ground at 2pm the same day, you’ll need to choose one or the other. However, this is a chance of silverware…

The Football Supporters’ Association runs annual invitational cup competitions between supporter-owned football clubs to celebrate the role supporters play in owning and helping football clubs up and down the country.

Clapton CFC Women’s First Team won the FSA Women’s Trophy against FC United of Manchester last summer. in the Brian Lomax Cup, the men’s football equivalent, CCFC lost to FCUM last summer and have also lost to Enfield Town in 2018.

This will be the third tier 5 team that CCFC have faced in a row this pre-season. A 5-2 win at home over Sutton United was followed by a 2-1 defeat to Barking but both performances were impressive.

We’ve played the Enfield women’s first team once before, losing 4-2 in the Capital Cup.

Admission

If you want to go to both parts of the FSA double header at Enfield you can buy a ticket online for £8, concessions £5, under 16s £1. If you are only going to the Clapton CFC game, you can enter for £4 via an admission table at the front of the stadium.

The venue is the beautiful, Grade II-listed Queen Elizabeth II Stadium. There is a licensed bar at the stadium and a food stall.

Directions

By car

M25 to Junction 25. Turn off and take A10 (heading south) at the second set of traffic lights turn right and then immediate left behind the pub/restaurant on the corner and follow the road to the end and the ground is on the right. 

From the south travel along the A10, past the cinema on the corner and then the park, turn left at the next set of traffic lights and then immediate left behind the pub/restaurant on the corner and follow the road to the end and the ground is on the right.

Public Transport

The nearest stations are Enfield Town (21 minutes’ walk) and Southbury stations (27 minutes), both on the London Overground.
