Meet the new Clapton CFC Women’s First Team signings for 2024/25 season

Clapton CFC Women’s First Team head coach Jay Murray has added seven new players to the squad ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The loss of captain Verity Phillips and top scorer Teju Callisto, and a long injury list last season, meant that reinforcements were needed during pre-season.

Here’s what you need to know about the new signings…

Eva van der Vliet

Defender Eva van der Vliet joins us having spent last season at Watford Development, who play at the same level as us. Eva previously played for SOAS University of London and Graaf Willem in the Netherlands and has also played futsal for Bloomsbury in the top division of the game.

Kaylee Shurety

Another defender who spent four seasons with Leyton Orient/London Seaward, during which time Kaylee captained their reserves side and played for the first team at tier 4. Last season was spent at Chelmsford City, who won their division at tier 7, with a spell at Dartford (tier 5) too.

Julia Moulton

The defender made her Clapton CFC debut in the FSA Women’s Trophy win over Enfield Town. She has made 8 appearances in the top flight of Scottish football for Edinburgh-based Spartans and previously played for Cyncoed, Millwall Lionesses and Southampton LFC.

Chloe Owen

Chloe Owen can play either as defensive midfielder or as a defender. She was at Leyton Orient last season having previously played for Lincoln City Reserves and Lincoln United Development.

Rebekah Higgins

Midfielder Rebekah Higgins joins us from Headstone Manor, where she was a near ever present over the last two season. She also played for the Middlesex representative county side which won the Southern Counties Women’s Cup. Previously she played 12 times for Middlesbrough in the third tier of the women’s football pyramid.

Aimee Shaw

Striker Aimee Shaw, who was top scorer for Headstone Manor last season, made her Clapton CFC debut in our FSA Women’s Trophy win. Previous clubs are University of Birmingham, Camden Town and Arsenal Youth Development.

Claire Huggins

Forward Claire Huggins scored 8 goals in 12 games for Romford last season, having previously played for higher level Enfield Town for several seasons.
