Cheshunt Community Cup preview: Clapton CFC Men’s First Team in round robin tournament

Cheshunt Community Cup takes place on Saturday, July 20 with 1pm and 4pm kick offs at The Stadium, Theobalds Lane, Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, EN8 8RU

After last weekend’s amazing trip to Madrid, the Men’s First Team will take part in another high-profile pre-season date with the three-way Cheshunt Community Cup tournament.

Clapton CFC will play two games on the day, lasting an hour rather than the usual 90 minutes.

The first is at 1pm against old Eastern Counties League rivals Harlow Town of our own Step 6. We played The Hawks twice last season, drawing 0-0 away and losing 1-0 at home, so another tight game is expected.

At 4pm we’ll take on Isthmian Premier (Step 3) side Cheshunt for the first time. Along with FC United of Manchester last season, they are the highest level team our Men’s First Team have faced.

Sandwiched between our two games, Cheshunt and Harlow will face each other. The winners of the three-way round robin tournament will lift the Cheshunt Community Cup trophy.

The tournament is in aid of Carers in Herts, which gives support, information and advice to unpaid carers.

Remember there is also a big double header at the Old Spotted Dog Ground on Saturday as our Development teams take on Easton Cowgirls and Easton Cowboys. Full details here.
