Later than we had hoped, work finally began on July 1 on creating a cycle path along the alley by the Old Spotted Dog Ground, as well as installing new fencing, gates and a new turnstile.
Contractors are also clearing the warehouse yard (which will be open into ground once work is completed) and will level part of the area next to the clubhouse. They are also undertaking work on the trees and planting six new ones.
We do not expect the project to interfere with match days but it is possible the alley may need to close temporarily on certain days for safety reasons.
This ground improvement was agreed at CCFC’s last AGM and Newham Council is meeting all the costs.
Once finished, the Dog will no longer be hidden away but clearly visible to passers-by. We hope the days of local people saying “I never knew there was a football ground there!” are finally over.
