CD Independiente de Vallecas vs Clapton Community FC double header takes place on Saturday, July 13 2024 with 7pm and 9pm kick offs at La Unión, Vallecas, Madrid.
Clapton CFC Women’s and Men’s First Teams are going on a summer tour! We will be visiting member-owned CD Independiente de Vallecas in the Madrid neighbourhood of Vallecas to play a double header of friendlies.
The matches take place back to back on the evening of Saturday, July 13 (the heat will be too much in the afternoon) with the Women’s First Team playing at 7pm and Men’s First Team at 9pm. Doors open at 5pm, please arrive early to avoid queues.
It’s Clapton CFC’s third overseas tour after trips to play CE Jupiter in Barcelona and to Roter Stern in Leipzig but the first time since our Women’s First Team formed and therefore our first joint European tour. We did however all travel together to play a summer double header with FC United of Manchester in 2021.
The games in Vallecas will be the highlight of our pre-season friendlies but we have some other exciting games, including our Women’s First Team looking to defend the Supporters Direct Shield and the Men’s First Team taking part in the Cheshunt Community Cup.
The opposition
Independiente formed in 2019 and are part of the Futbol Popular movement of democratic football clubs in Spain. Their motto is ‘football with principles’ while their latest kit raises funds for the Sahrawi people of Western Sahara and they have just played double headers friendlies against the Sahrawi men’s and women’s under 21 teams. La Burdeos’ women’s team play in the seventh tier (one below ours) and their men’s team play in the ninth tier (one higher than ours) so they should both be competitive games.
Admission
Admission is free but you need to book a ticket in advance from here. Capacity is 1000 and there are 200 tickets set aside for travelling Clapton CFC fans.

Merch
There is a substantial shortfall to make up in the funding for the trip so please do buy the special summer scarf or any other merch if you can.
We will be selling summer scarves, away shirts and a few other items at the game. CD Independiente de Vallecas will also have merch on sale.
Directions
The nearest railway station to the stadium is Santa Eugenia, just a five minute walk away. It’s on the C-2, C-7 and C-8 train lines.
The nearest underground station is Villa de Vallecas on Line 1, which is an 11 minute walk away.
