Clapton CFC women’s first team are now out of the running for the one promotion spot going into the last few weeks of the season. The 3-2 home defeat to leaders Sport London e Benfica last Sunday means that we can no longer catch them. Nevertheless, it’s been a great achievement to stay in the hunt for so long for a secon season in a row.
The promotion situation is simple enough in the London & South East Regional Women’s League Division 1 North – the top team only are promoted to the Premier, which is tier 5. There are no play-offs. So it’s now a straight two-way fight between Sport London E Benfica and Brentford for the top spot.
Position | Team | P | Pts | Pts/game | Possible Points |
1 | Sport London E Benfica | 17 | 44 | 2.59 | 53 |
5 | Brentford | 12 | 28 | 2.33 | 52 |
3 | Clapton CFC | 16 | 31 | 1.94 | 43 |
2 | Dulwich Hamlet Reserves | 17 | 32 | 1.88 | 41 |
8 | AFC Whyteleafe | 15 | 23 | 1.53 | 38 |
However, Clapton CFC are still going to have a big say in the title chase, as we play Brentford at home and away. We also have a home game against Denham United and a tasty looking East London derby away at Hackney FC.
