The Clapton CFC men’s first team have arranged a low-key friendly against higher division Athletic Newham on Saturday.
The CCFC team faced another weekend without a league game as others catch up on their games in hand. In total, we have had just one competitive game scheduled for a month, last week’s 3-2 away defeat.
That’s stalled the momentum of the final months’ push for the play-offs, but a tough game against Athletic Newham – sixth in the Essex Senior League – may help keep them ticking over.
Kick off is 3pm at Mabley Green, Lee Conservancy Rd, Hackney E9 5HW. Spectators are welcome, with entry free.
With several days of rain and lots of pitch inspections planned, it might be one of the few games to survive.
It’s also our only game of the weekend with the women’s first team having no fixture and our development and open access teams being postponed already.
