London Seaward Reserves vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Sunday, November 26 2023 with a 2pm kick off at Jack Carter Pavilion Sports Ground, Oakfield Playing Fields, Fencepiece Road, Barkingside, Essex, IG6 2JL
The Clapton CFC women’s first team head to London Seaward Reserves once again in the Capital Cup second round on Sunday.
Last weekend’s game between the two teams was postponed at late notice by the match referee due to soft areas of the pitch at Oakside Stadium. These things happen.
That stadium isn’t available this Sunday so the match has been moved to the reserves’ usual home at the Jack Carter Pavilion Sports Ground in Redbridge.
After defeats to Fulham (league cup) and Actonians Reserves (league) in the last two games, our team will be looking to get back to winning ways.
But we’ll need to be on form having never beaten our friends at the other East London members-owned club yet, albeit having only met three times.
The opposition
They played under the Leyton Orient name until 2021, when it’s safe to say the relationship ended turbulently. At that point they chose to become an independent women’s club with a name to reflect the maritime history of London.
Now in the FA Women’s National League, the fourth tier, The Anchors are one of London’s highest ranked independent women’s football clubs, determined to show you don’t have to be someone else’s ‘Ladies’ or ‘Womens’ team to be successful.
The reserves play in the FA Women’s National League Reserve South East & Central Division.
Form guide
The reserves are midtable so far with wins over Rugby and AFC Sudbury and a draw at QPR.
Previous meetings
The two teams met in pre-season at the Old Spotted Dog Ground with Seaward winning 3-2.
