It’s time to put the spotlight on our new 5-a-side team – the Cagefighters! 

When a 5s team becomes established they usually go independent and become self-funded. That means other women and non-binary players get to come through and try beginners competitive football as Clapton CFC.

Coached by Julie and Jalina and born out of Open Access, this spirited group are our latest 5s team and have been having a great run of form in division 5 of the Super5 League at Mabley Green.

The “Cage” is the team’s affectionate name for the newcomer pitch at Open Access, where Julie has trained up this new group from 10am to midday each Saturday, no matter if it’s during stifling summer mornings or torrential downpours!

From that Cage, a fierce group of football warriors have been formed. But don’t be fooled by the name – the “Cageys” trademark is all about fun, fun and more fun 🤩 

The Clapton Cagefighters…they may have been born in the Cage, but now they’re ready to fight their way up the Super5 league 💥
