There are just two league games left this season (plus the cup final) for the Clapton CFC women’s first team so here’s another update on the final run-in.
The title (and only promotion spot) looks to be a battle between long-term favourites Dorking Wanderers and Brentford as we enter the final straight.
Dorking started the season in ruthless fashion but have stumbled a little in recent weeks as their fixture congestion has caught up, giving Brentford a chance to pip them. Clapton CFC play Dorking twice as our final two games of the season. Brentford also still have Dorking to play twice. So there’s still plenty of football twists and turns to follow.
CCFC are still top as it stands but looking at the points per game we are heading for third place, which would be a brilliant achievement nevertheless. To be anywhere near the top, and to be mathematically safe from relegation, in our first season at this level is stupendous.
There’s only one relegation spot after Walton & Hersham pulled out before the season began leaving 11 teams. It looks like a three-way battle between East London friends Hackney WFC and Leatherhead and Richmond Park.
Our final games of the season are…
- Apr 16 3.30pm (A) Dorking Wanderers (at Meadowbank Stadium)
- Apr 23 2.30pm (N) Ashford United (at Gallagher Stadium, Maidstone) – cup final
- May 07 2pm (H) Dorking Wanderers (at Old Spotted Dog Ground)
