Thank you all who donated to support the annual Newham Christmas Toy Appeal, organised by the Newham Recorder, Community Links and local charity Ambition, Aspire, Achieve.
Now in its 45rd year, this project provides a Christmas stocking of new gifts to children who may otherwise have nothing to unwrap on Christmas Day.
In Newham, the stark reality is that over 50% of local children are now growing up in poverty.
In the cost-of-living crisis, the Appeal is receiving more requests for help than ever before, so they are looking to buy toys for 2,800 children.
We held a bucket shake at the women’s first team game against Dulwich Hamlet Reserves at the Old Spotted Dog Ground on Sunday. Spectators in the attendance of 289 donated £371.15 in cash for the Newham Toy Appeal.
If you couldn’t make the game, or didn’t have any cash on you, you can donate online at the JustGiving fundraising page.
All money donated will be spent on buying presents for Newham’s most underprivileged children in advance of Christmas Day.
Toy donations can be made in person at the Terence Brown Arc In The Park, in Bethell Avenue, Canning Town.
In total CCFC fans have raised £2750 over the years, thanks so much for your generosity.
