Clapton CFC’s women’s first team will have to wait a bit longer to play their first game of 2022 after our cup tie was called off.

We were due to visit South East Parakeets on Sunday in the John Greenacre Memorial Trophy action, which is the league cup.

Our hosts, who are leaders of the division below us and who play at Holmesdale FC’s ground, have advised that they are unable to raise a side due to injuries and illness.

That means the Tons progress automatically to the third round.

Our previous appearance in the JGMT saw us lose 1-0 away at higher division Clapham United, while last season the cup didn’t happen due to Covid.
