We’re sorry to announce the East London derby with Sporting Hackney on December 19th has been postponed.
Our visitors have been forced to pull the plug due to ‘player availability / Covid’ reasons and no replacement league game could be arranged.
Tickets had sold out quickly and all ticket holders will be emailed with the choice of a full refund, or to donate it to the Clapton CFC members’ hardship fund.
With the women’s first team game the next day also postponed, it means a premature end to 2020 for both our senior teams.
The men’s first team have played just 13 competitive games this year, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic and a bit of winter weather.
As Covid-19 cases rise in London, which is now in Tier 3, there will be tougher restrictions across all club activity, including at games.
Nothing is as important as public health and wellbeing so our Covid group will be working out renewed guidance in due course.
The rules will include a maximum capacity of 150 at the Wadham Lodge Stadium, 100 at the Stray Dog, home to the women’s first team.
In the meantime, please continue to follow all Covid-19 guidance and see you in 2021 where we hope to eventually be able to be back together again properly.
