Clapton CFC members and supporters are once again being asked to dig deep for the annual Christmas Toy Appeal.
Unfortunately, the men’s team game vs Indian Gymkhana Club has been postponed, so we are asking if you can donate directly to the appeal instead.
- Please donate directly to the charity’s fundraising page online.
- If you would like to donate a toy rather than money, click here for information on drop-off points.
For many families, Christmas isn’t a fun or happy time of year – with disadvantaged, vulnerable and at-risk children facing waking up on December 25 to a day of hardship and struggle just like any other.
That’s where the Newham Recorder and Community Links’ annual Christmas Toy Appeal – now in its 42nd year – comes in.
This year’s appeal aims to collect 18,000 gifts to ensure that every child referred to the appeal, aged from 2 months to 16 years, has gifts to open and a smile on their face on Christmas morning.
Newham has the dubious honour of having the highest number of children living in poverty in London – 36,780.
Recipients of the Appeal have included children brought up under a variety of complex needs, from single parents in multiple low-paid jobs that need extra support, to those living in poor, inadequate temporary accommodation, children with complex mental health, emotional or physical needs, parents with disabilities, substance issues or who have passed away. These are just some examples.
